This Beginning of this short film, uses mise en scene and
the colours of the scene to represent boredom and full of dull. The long shot also gives the impression of a long boring day of work and his thoughts on it.This straight away gives us the idea that this man is either unhappy or maybe depressed, followed by the depressing sigh and very slouchy body language hits a man with little motivation. What follows is a state of confusion for the character, with the use of a close up shot of his face, we see that this man is dazed as to what has happened and seems to question his sanity with a muffled look. The use of camera work to have a 1st person view from the hole suggests its maybe a living thing. His sense of curiosity leads him to inspect 'the black hole' and figures its use, the close up shot on the man again gives us the idea that he is still bemused by what's taking place. This is when the close up of his face shows his intent to experiment with 'the black hole'. His greediness is shown from theft and his little loyalty to his job, suggesting low pay and that he wasn't treated well as a worker which increase his drive to steal the money, which backfired suggesting a sense of karma against what he had done. A clever use of dramatic irony when we see the tape starting to slip this gives the audience information the man doesn't have. This creates a slight tension when he enters the hole as it will mean the viewer already knows his fate when he does not.
